Pioneer Online Academy is approved as a Qualified Provider of the Utah Fits All Scholarship Program (UFA)

Starting in Fall 2024, this new program will offer thousands of Utah students about $8,000 per year (97% of each student’s public school funding) for education expenses, to be applied to private and homeschooling expenses.

The new law specifies that all Utah students are eligible for scholarship funding. (If needed, some prioritization will be given to families at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, or $60,000 for a family of four in 2023).

The number of students is only limited by state funding — $42.5 million for the 2024-25 school year, for as many as 5,312 Utah students. Funding is tied to increase, at minimum, with the rate of inflation.

Note that this program will not reduce public school funding. In fact, as a result, every Utah teacher will receive a $6,000 pay raise, raising their median salaries to $60,301 per year. Support for this new legislation is both broad and deep.

The primary obstacle to the program’s potential benefits is that nearly all private schools in Utah cost more than $8,000 per year. This is an important reason why our tuition, here at Pioneer Online Academy, is set well below those limits. We agree with Representative Candice Pierucci, Senator Kirk Cullimore, and Governor Spencer Cox, that high-quality, innovative education should be within reach of all Utah students. We are eager to help this program — and our students — succeed!

Applications for students opens on February 28, 2024 and will close on April 15.
